RBI to issue Rs 10 coins to mark International Yoga Day
July 31, 2015: To commemorate International Yoga Day, the Reserve Bank of India will issue Rs 10 coins in the country.
"The Reserve Bank of India will shortly put into circulation Rs 10 coins to commemorate the International Day of Yoga that the Government of India has minted," RBI said in a release today.
The obverse side of the coins will have the sign of Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar and the Satyamev Jayate written below. There will be “Bharat” word in Devnagri Script on the left side.
On the right side, the coin will bear the word “INDIA” in English.
"It also bears the Rupee symbol and denominational value '10' in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol," RBI said.
The reverse side of the coin will have the logo 'International Day of Yoga', with a phrase 'Samanjasya avam Shanti ke Liye Yog' in Devnagri script and 'YOGA FOR HARMONY AND PEACE' around the logo and design. In Devnagri Script, the inscription 'Antarrashtriya Yog Divas' would be there on the left periphery.
At the bottom of the logo, there will be the date '21 JUNE'. The Government has declared the 21 June as the ‘International Yoga Day’.
"These coins are legal tender as provided in The Coinage Act 2011. The existing coins in this denomination will also continue to be legal tender," RBI said.
