FAQs

What happens if I am not able to pay the minimum amount due on my HDFC Credit Card?

If you fail to even pay the minimum amount due on your Credit Card, you will be charged a late payment fee which will be added to your next statement. The late payment fee varies according to the limit on the Credit Card.

After this, the Bank keeps sending you reminders to settle the payment. The bank may also hire a third party to get payment from you. If you are still unable to pay, it will dangle your Credit Card Services. The bank may also inform “CIBIL” about the non-payment of your credit card debt and hence your CIBIL score would drop.

To know more about the Factors that make the CIBIL Score or the Credit Score Lower, click on the link!

What is the late payment fees levied on HDFC Credit Card when you fail to pay the minimum amount?

Being a Credit Card keeper, If you don’t make the payment on time which is 5% of the statement balance by the specified time. You will be imposed a late payment fee. This may not sound so enormous, but this may affect your Credit Card rating, leading to a cutback in your Credit Card limit and may also increase the Credit Card interest rate as well.

Here is a shortlist of statement balances with the late payment levied :

STATEMENT BALANCE  LATE FEE LEVIED
Less Than Rs. 100 NIL
Between Rs.100 to Rs.500 Rs.100
Between Rs.501 to Rs.5,000 Rs.400
Between Rs.5,000 to Rs.10,000 Rs.500
Above Rs.10,000 Rs.750
