What is Repo Rate?

About Repo Rate

The rate, at which the central bank of the country (RBI in case of India) lends short term money to commercial banks if there is any shortfall of funds, is known as “Repo Rate”. It is used to control inflation. To increase the money supply, RBI decreases the repo rate. Repo simply means “Repossession”.
