About Maiden Names in Mutual Funds:
If you have invested Maiden Names in Mutual Funds and after marriage, your name is changed, the same has to be updated in the record of mutual fund investments. This is essential for documentation purposes. There is a process for changing maiden names in documents that have to be submitted in the KRA point of service. The KYC detail has to be updated after the change in name.
The moment you submit the document, the KRA issues validations for receipt of legal documents and processes the change after the recognition.
Updating the AMC:
The written application has to be submitted in the mutual funds house regarding the updation of changes. The application must include details, such as maiden name, the updated name and the old name, signatures, the change of address, as well as complete information of bank details.
The letter should also contain an attested copy of the marriage certificate, pan card copy, address proof, acknowledgment received from KRA.
Once the entire documents are submitted, the updation will be done in 7-8 working days. After the changes, the investor will be informed by a letter.
An important points to note:
The lady must go through the process of changing the name with respect to her bank account and PAN record.
You should carry the changes soon after the marriage as it will facilitate in the future.
