Abbott has launched the COVID-19 home test kits in the country.
The healthcare major Abbott has launched the test kits of COVID-19 in India for the detection of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in children and in adults too. It can be tested with or without the symptoms. The price of a single test kit is Rs. 325. 
The company will also deliver millions of the Panbio COVID-19 rapid antigen tests, which will be available for self-use and also to ease the burden on the systems of healthcare in rural and urban India.
These tests will also be made available to ramp up the testing of the individuals as in alignment with the ICMR advisory on self-use, both the symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals can use it. It will be easy access and will also be accurate, therefore, it will speed up the process of testing and will help to curb the community contagion too.
The self-testing at home will also empower the people to carry out the first line of protection against this deadly disease of coronavirus. Abbott will offer some self-test kits, which can be used by the people at home and can also be used at the workplaces and in the laboratories too. It will also help in normalizing to return to the places of employment.
By the end of the month of July, Abbott has planned to deliver around 7 million test kits in the first phase and will tend to deliver more test kits in order to support the needs of the country.
