HDFC Bank has initiated Atanu Chakraborty’s name before the RBI and is expecting a nod on the same before making the initiation formal in the next month of the coming year. Chakraborty is the erstwhile secretary of economic affairs to the Government of India and is also an old-timer IAS officer. HDFC Bank has seen major substitutes in the year 2020. The managing director of the bank for the last almost 26 years Aditya Puri retired in October and he was succeeded by Shashidhar Jagdishan the same. Along with this major fabrication, there has been an ample number of changes at the top level.
Chakraborty worked as a managing director and executive officer of Gujrat State Petronet Limited for two years from the year 2014-2016. He was in command in the districts of Vadodra and Sabarkantha for the same. Chakraborty is well versed and has a pre-knowledge of serving and commanding in various states and various government departments including revenue, finance, home, water resources, and education departments and public sector undertakings.
Chakraborty has a postgraduate diploma in business finance and an MBA from the UK. He is also a 1985 batch Gujarat IAS Comrade. His name has been cleared by the board and will be set in motion after receiving clearance from RBI for the same. The occupancy of the existing part-time chairperson Shymala Gopinath will be ending on 1st Jan of the upcoming year.
HDFC Bank informed the stock exchange on December 28 that ” In consonance to the Nomination and the Remuneration Committee, a recommendation was made by the board of the directors and has been sent to the RBI for acceptance under the Section 35B of the Banking Regulation Act 1949. Any further revelation in this context will be made after the final word of communication from the RBI.”
