ICICI Bank announced its partnership with the payment app Google Pay today. Through this partnership, customers using the service of ICICI Bank will be able to issue FASTag via Google Pay. The said partnership will also allow Google Pay users to track, order, and recharge ICICI Bank FASTag efficiently, using this digital platform. Following this partnership, ICICI Bank, which is already one of India’s biggest and most trusted private-owned banks, becomes the first bank to partner up with Google Pay for issuing of FASTag.
Sudipta Roy, head of unsecured assets of ICICI Bank, said that this collaboration with Google Pay, which happens to be one of the best and convenient payment apps in India, will only strengthen digital payments in FASTag. ICICI has also launched FASTag at the parking zone at Hyderabad International Airport and Mumbai Toll plazas.
This new association between ICICI Bank and Google Pay also works wonders during the pandemic as it allows any Google Pay user to order and receive FASTag in a contactless manner. This is a huge achievement for the ICICI Bank which will increase the use of FASTag. Praveena Rai, who is the COO, said that this collaboration will also allow consumers to recharge conveniently through UPI IDs on Google Pay.
How to Use FASTag:
- Open the Google Pay app and select the ICICI Bank FASTag option under “Businesses”
- Select “Buy new FASTag”
- Enter your PAN number, address, RC copy, and vehicle details.
- Enter the one-time password that is sent to your mobile number.
- Proceed to payment after which the order gets placed.
With digital payments taking over our lives, tie-ups such as these can be very useful, both for the citizens and the businesses. This collaboration between ICICI Bank and Google Pay has been a very clever move on the part of both the businesses that will enhance their profit to a great extent.
