The carcass of a farm laborer in India was held up to the bank by the neighbors to stress demand on money for his cremation, cops mentioned it on Thursday. Mahesh Yadav was a 55 years old man, who died this week early on Tuesday in a town situated in the eastern state of Bihar after staying severely unwell leaving behind no family. His body was found by his neighbors many hours later, as officials told AFP. The other villagers looked into Yadav’s home for something valuable to give money for his funeral, but fell incapable to discover any remaining, they rather went with the bank passbook that indicated he had around $1,600 in the account under his name.
That afternoon, they put up with the passbook and Yadav’s corpse to the bank, refusing to depart until the branch manager discharged his funds as reported by the local police officer Amrendar Kumar. Kumar told AFP that The Villagers requested the bank to give them the money they would need from his account to process cremation or else they would just keep him as it is. It had put heavy pressure on the bank because of which they finally released some money coming after the intervention of the local police station.”
The branch manager of Canara Bank, Sanjeev Kumar said the stunning scenes built panic. It was the first such case of its kind as told by Kumar to AFP.or after over an hour, money was given to them ($135) and they eventually left the bank with his body for the cremation ground. Shakuntala Devi from the neighbor said Yadav did not own any land and did not collect any support from the government. There was simply no-one to look after him although he had been suffering for months. The neighbor mentioned how she used to provide him cooked food and other things to the AFP.
