Govt reassuring about the vaccine supplies next month
Nearly 30 crore doses of coronavirus vaccine are visiting be available in June, the govt. said on Sunday. during a press release, the Union Health Ministry said the allocation of supplies to states and union territories is set on the consumption pattern, population, and vaccine wastage.
It said that the visibility for the availability of vaccines for the entire month of June 2021 has been provided well before to States/UTs.
“For this month of June, 7 crore doses of COVID vaccines are supplied to the States and Union territories for vaccination of priority group of Health Care Workers, Front-Line Workers and a person aged 45 years + and above as free supply from Government of India,” the ministry said.
During this situation, the ministry said that states are requested to direct the coordinate officials to create sure rational and judicious utilization of allocated doses and minimize the vaccine wastage. the full vaccine doses which are available for direct procurement by States/UTs is to substantiate better planning and delivery of vaccine by States/UTs,” the statement read.
In view of this, the states are asked to maximize the use of flexibilities like ‘near home’ Covid vaccination centres and raising the involvement of personal hospitals for the enhanced pace of vaccination.
In the review meeting on Monday, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan asked states to extend the quantity of near-to-home vaccination centres and make awareness among the masses to be used of those centers.
These vaccination centres are permitted at community halls, residents’ association offices, schools among other locations so as to facilitate inoculation of these above 60 years with first doses and people with special needs.
