9 April 2020: HDFC and ICICI private-sector banks have asked customers to use digital means when they do and say they have reduced their employees to the role of preventing coronavirus transmission initiatives.
HDFC Bank has adjusted its working hours and will run until March 31, except Saturday, from 10 am to 2 pm. The private lender has temporarily renewed its restructuring letter for foreign currency books and services. HDFC Bank has encouraged individuals to use cheque drop boxes to help alleviate branch crowding.
Via SMS, ICICI Bank advised its clients that “our branches will stay open with required hygiene measures and reduced staff.”
Customers can, however, go digital to use passbook notifications and reload forex cards. Among the digital transaction, modes are NEFT, RTGS, IMPS and UPI services.
