The ICICI Bank has launched the WhatsApp service for the customers. It will allow customers to pay bills, create a fixed deposit, and detailed access to their trade finance instantly using WhatsApp.

Now customers have the convenience of accessing the bank from home. Due to the COVID pandemic issue, people have to maintain social distancing with this initiative. They can avoid an unwanted rush, and with that chances of getting in contact with the infected people will reduce.
Now retailers can pay their bills and maintain their FDs from shops. Corporates and MSMEs can check their client’s finance-related details and services which includes import-export code, customer ID, etc.
Currently, phone recharging service is not offered, but soon it will be included in the list of the services. Six months before the bank launched a host of services. The services include checking the balance of the account, credit card limit, pre-approved loan offers, block/unblock credit/debit card, access to predominant newspapers/magazines and locating nearby stores of essentials. Many borrowers have chosen moratorium through WhatsApp service.
All that the customers need to do is save the number provided by the ICICI bank and say ‘Hi.’ The bank will respond with the list of services that the customers can avail.
The customers need to type the keyword for the service they want, and the service carried out and then displayed instantly.
Mr Bijith Bhaskar, the Head-Digital Channels and Partnership of ICICI bank, mentioned that with the growing influence of the social media, the services offered through WhatsApp could bring more comfort and convenience to the customers.
Over two million users have adopted the banking services via the WhatsApp in a span of just six months and looking at such a great response from the customers. The services have been expanded to retail, NRI, corporate and MSME customers as well.
