Thanjavur Rs 11,500 crore worth crop loans for delta farmers
Thanjavur: Cooperative Minister I. Periyasami stated that the state government set a goal on Tuesday to pay farmers a total of 11,500 crore rupees in loans to grow Kuruai crops.
“Crop loans are provided based on the rice bowl needs of Tamil Nadu,” Periyasamy told reporters at a review meeting in Thanjavur of agricultural loan disbursements in Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts.
Loans are issued through 4,451 primary agricultural cooperatives. Credit companies and officials have been instructed to recruit new members to join the association so that they can obtain agricultural loans.
