December has begun and most of the festivals are over. In November, major festivals such as Diwali, Bhai Dooj, Guru Nanak Jayanti and other regional festivals such as Chhath Puja are celebrated and due to these times, banks remain closed on various days last month. Compared to November, December has one big holiday which is Christmas. The Reserve Bank of India also known as RBI has specified some days and in these days all the banking operations will remain closed in the month of December.
According to the guidelines stated by Reserve Bank of India, banks will remain closed during the public holidays while other certain holidays may vary from one province to another province.
Public holidays in India also do apply to the country’s banks. This includes bank holidays across the country and other state-owned enterprises.
Apart from this, the second and fourth Saturdays every month are bank holidays. Besides, Sunday is a normal day closed on all banks in the country.
In December 2020, the 12th will be the second Saturday and the 26th will be the fourth. Christmas is December 25th.
