Rupee Gains 6 Paise Against Dollar
The Rupee firmed to 6 paise at 63.85 against the dollar in opening trade; it maintained its upward trend for a fourth straight day on sustained selling of the US currency by banks and amid a higher opening in the domestic market.
The dollar slipped to a three-year low. And according to Forex dealers, the greenback headed for its biggest weekly loss in the last two years. The highest opening in the domestic equity gave them some momentum.
The BSE Sensex rose 196.39 points to 34,493.86 in today’s early session. The rupee ended higher by 18 paise and the dollar traded flat against the yen which slipped to 106.020 which is its lowest level in the 15 months.
