Vijaya Bank

The Vijaya Bank was established in Mangalore, Karnataka, in October 1931. A.B.Shetty and other enterprising farmers in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district established the cooperative, which the late Shri A.B.Shetty founded to promote banking habits among farmers.

In 1958, Vijaya Bank was designated as a scheduled commercial bank. Vijaya Bank grew into an all-India bank during the 1963–68 fiscal year by merging nine smaller banks. It was nationalized in the year 1980.
