Across the country, all the private and the government banks remain shut on public holidays and the second and the fourth Saturdays of each month. However, on the occasion of various regional holidays, the private and the government banks do remain shut.
Many dates were even mentioned by the Reserve Bank of India when the banks will not function and remain closed in the upcoming year of 2021. However, the holidays may differ for various banks from state to state and the customers are advised to look into the official website of the bank to recheck any further details.
Many of the public banking holidays as approved by the Reserve Bank of India including New Year’s Eve on the 1st of January, Republic Day on the 26th of January, and the regular Sundays being a non-working day and the second and the fourth Saturdays of every month. Many of the regional holidays which might vary from state to state given the fictitious circumstances include the 2nd of January on the eve of the New Year celebration, 14th January on the occasion of Makar Sankranti,15th January on the instance of Tusu Puja, 16th January on the occurrence Uzhavar Thirunal,23rd January on the Birthday of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, 25th January on the occasion of Imouni Iratpa and 26th January on the occurrence of Gaan Ngai.
In Aizwal on January 2nd and 16th, there will be a holiday and Agartala will observe a holiday on the 23rd of January. Banks in Chennai and Guwahati will remain closed on January 15 and the banks remain closed in Chennai, Gangtok, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad on January 14.
