Coal mine auctions have been revised
On Tuesday, the coal ministry announced the revision in the timeline of the second tranche of auctions for commercial mining. In a statement, the ministry said that the last date for the registration of the sale of tender documents on the MSTC website and for the registration of bidders and the bid due date, all have been revised.
Now, the last date for the submission of the bids has been extended and it will be 8th July 2021. Also, the revised timeline will be uploaded to the website soon.
The Government offered around 67 coal mines for sale in March, launching the second tranche of the commercial mining auctions. It was termed as a step towards the ‘AATMANIRBHAR BHARAT’.
This is, no doubt, the highest number of mines on the offer in a particular tranche after the commencement of the auction regime that happened in the year 2014. Out of the 38 coal blocks that were offered in the auction’s first round for commercial mining, the government has successfully auctioned 20 times.
