Check EPF Balance using EPFO Portal
Employees can check their EPF balance via the EPFO portal if they have an activated Universal Account Number. Following is the procedure to check the EPF balance online using the EPFO portal.
Step 1: First, visit the EPFO employer sign-in page. The link to the EPFO portal sign-in is https://unifiedportal-emp.epfindia.gov.in/epfo/#.
Step 2: Second, in the service tab, select the ‘For employees’ option.
Step 3: Third, select the Member Passbook button on the page displayed.
Step 4: After that, sign in to the EPFO website by entering credentials such as User Name, Password and click on the Login button.
Step 5: Lastly, you can check the Member IDs of your current and past organizations’ accounts.
EPF amount Check via the Umang App
People can also view their PF balance on mobile phones by installing the Umang App. To check your balance, you must complete a one-time registration on the application by entering the OTP texted on your registered mobile number as you install the app on your phone.
A step-by-step guide to checking balance via the Umang App
Step 1: On opening the app, click on EPFO.
Step 2: Next, click on the ‘Employee Centric Services’ option.
Step 3: Now, click on ‘View Passbook’.
Step 4: After that, enter your UAN and OTP texted to you on the registered mobile number and click on login.
Step 5: Eventually, you can now check the EPF transactions from your current and past employers.
PF Balance Enquiry by sending an SMS
You can also make a PF balance enquiry via offline modes. To view your PF balance, you must have completed the KYC (Know your customer) of your UAN, i.e. your Aadhar, PAN, and bank details linked with the UAN. You can check the PF status by sending a message to 7738299899.
The template of the text message is ‘EPFOHO *UAN* *Lang*’, where UAN is your Universal Account Number and Lang is the Language in which you want to check your EPF balance. As of now, you can check your EPF balance in Malayalam, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, English, and Hindi.

- To check your PF balance via a missed call, you must have a working UAN, and also, the KYC of UAN must be verified.
- If you meet these qualification criteria, you can view your PF balance by giving a missed call to 011-22901406 from your registered mobile number.
- You will then receive the EPF balance through a text message.
