Life Insurers receive claims of Rs 100 crore in Uttarakhand disaster

Life Insurance Council (LIC) said today that insurers have so far received claims worth Rs 100 Crore relating to the flash floods disaster in Uttarakhand due to the disaster in Uttrakhand, and they are in processing stages.
Life Insurance Firms said that due to the Uttrakhand tragedy, they have received claims of nearly Rs 100 crore as of now. There are several more lawsuits still being filed. LIC Secretary General V Manickam said that special camps were held by corporations on an individual basis to resolve claims.
He also noted that so far, general insurance firms have earned a claim of Rs 1500 crore. Still, in the flood and landslides that hit Uttarakhand this year, over 6,000 individuals are missing. LIC said the industry manages assets of over 17.4 lakh crore, and since 2000 has now attracted Rs 6046 crore on the market.
