Diesel Prices in the Country Hiked by 25-26 paise in the Last Two Days.

Since the conclusion of the 2019 general elections on Sunday, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have hiked the rates of diesel by 25-26 paise per litre. On Tuesday, every litre of diesel was retailed for Rs.66.11 in the national capital, while in Mumbai, the country’s financial capital, consumers had to shell Rs.69.36 for one litre.

It needs to be mentioned here that the prices of fuel in the country are dependent on global oil prices and the value of the rupee against the US dollar. It is noteworthy that fuel prices in the country are revised daily as OMCs adopted the dynamic pricing scheme in June 2017. Earlier, the rates of fuel in the country were revised every 15 days.

Diesel and petrol prices in various cities in India

While petrol prices were slashed marginally, diesel prices were increased slightly on Wednesday. OMCs increased the diesel rate by 12 paise per litre in Delhi, whereas the petrol price was down by a few paise to Rs.70.33 a litre. In Mumbai, petrol rates were decreased by 8 paise per litre whereas diesel prices were increased by 13 paise per litre, according to Indian Oil Corporation Limited.

On Wednesday, petrol price was Rs.72.44 a litre in Kolkata and Rs.73 per litre in Chennai, whereas diesel price was Rs.66.36 a litre in Kolkata and Rs.68.22 a litre in Chennai, respectively. Likewise, petrol prices were revised to Rs.70.23 a litre in Noida and 71.26 a litre in Gurugram. Diesel prices stood at Rs.63.94 a litre in Noida and Rs.64.55 a litre in Gurugram.
